The Sensa HDM48000 is a CNC-control
system especially for High Speed Cutting, intended for light (up to 2.5 kilowatt spindle power) CNC milling machines, with exceptional acceleration, speed and precision. All data to and from the Sensa
HDM48000 control flows in continuous streams via the new USB2.0 interface. The simplicity and reliability of the new USB2.0 standard is ideal for PC based CNC, also
in industrial environments. Furthermore, the galvanic isolation between the USB endpoint and the power amplifier hardware, eliminates any grounding problem and interference risk. For all other machine control functions, 24 VDC compatible I/O is present (16/6), as well as two analog outputs (0..10VDC). The control is fully 3D, with a patented numerical round-off between the (3D) G01 linear instructions. That's how the Sensa HDM48000 maintains full speeds of up to 12 meters/minute even in the wildest curves in all directions. Sensa's HDM48000 is a low cost high speed milling CNC control and is popular among OEM makers of custom machines such as sign milling and other milling machines. The USB2.0 driver (with speeds up to 480Mbps) is also available for other applications .
The Sensa HDM48000 comes complete with Windows 2000 software, a PC with 10/100 ethernet card, powersupply, power amplifiers, and interface electronics. You can either order these as a set of modules,
or as an assembled control. The software accepts ISO codes (G codes) from almost any CAM package. The control runs the motors as InverseServo's and is meant for OEM's, who engineere specialty machines as
well as series. Usually, Sensa's engineering services will assist in implementing the Sensa HDM48000 in your application, although most workshops will not find problems implementating it.

but will always outperform any conventional servo control.
|
There are two major technological breakthroughs in this high-end control: 1.
The revolutionary Sensa two phase 120Volt/10Ampere four quadrant current controller. This current amplifier converts a stepper motor into a high speed,
high torque, high power servomotor with unbelievable positioning accuracy, very high acceleration and high speed. These results, however, are best obtained using the excellent Pacific Scientific's Powermax II (Sigmax; Nema23-size, double stack) stepper motors, forming an integral part of the Sensa HDM48000
control. The Sensa current amplifier has outstanding efficiency, using a 60kHz chopper frequency. A decellerating stepper motor will typically direct current
back to the power supply! Motor torque vs. speed linearly derates from 100% zero rpm to 80% at 3000 rpm and 0% at 14000 (yes! 14 thousand) rpm.

Another unique strength is the specially developed high speed interface between the Windows software and power electronics. This results in a 48 kHz
update of motor-position info from software to power electronics. Microstepping is not an adequate term to describe this way of stepper motor control since the
stepper resolution practically forms a continuum. Theoretical positioning accuracies exceed 0.1 of a micrometer. Practical positioning accuracies are 1
micrometer static to 0.01 mm at a speed of 12 meters/minute.
To give you some impression of the
Sensa HDM48000 performance: With a 800 x 1600 x 175 millimeter (X, Y and Z resp.) portal construction High Speed Cutting
milling machine, feed rates go up to 12 meter/minute (rapid traverse: 15 meters/min). Precision is usually better then 0.01 millimeter under conditions
as contouring with high acceleration (3.5 meter/sec2) and speed (6 meter/minute) and milling in aluminium, 4 mm tool, 60000 rpm (1.6 kWatt), 4 mm depth.
